Mandatory Course Attendance and Absence Policy
Attendance is mandatory. Exceptions will be made for emergencies occurring within the training window. While we recognize that emergencies happen, participants must adhere to the maximum allowable absence hours specified in the chart below. Exceeding this allotted time will require withdrawal from the course, with the option to reenroll at a later date.
Participants who are absent due to an emergency must fulfill the following requirements to receive a Certificate of Completion:
- Watch the recording of the missed content.
- Provide a written reflection and submit it to alexis@reedcharitablefoundation.org.
- Complete any in-class assignments.
Certificates of Completion will be awarded once missed coursework has been received. Please note that planned appointments or known conflicts do not qualify as emergencies.

Requirements for Participation during Live, Virtual Training
While we understand that technical difficulties may occur, active participation during training is required to receive a Certificate of Completion. Participation includes maintaining a working camera and keeping it on for the duration of all sessions; answering questions when prompted by the instructor; responding to whole-group questions using the chat feature; and actively participating in breakout sessions.
Kindly communicate with your instructor or training facilitator regarding any technical issues. Please note: Regarding colleagues attending from a single room—whether logged in on one computer or multiple computers—participants must be able to mute and unmute without audio feedback, display their name, and enter breakout rooms. These requirements must be tested and enabled at the worksite location prior to the start of the training.
Purchase Order Registration
All participants must be registered a week before training begins. If a participant has not registered, their opportunity will be transferred to the next available training. Registration fee is non-refundable.
Though all participants will receive physical materials, registration after the 2-week mark will not guarantee physical materials by the commencement of training. Digital copies will be provided.
All participants must be registered to attend the training. If a paid registrant is unable to attend, the school may substitute another individual by notifying RCF at least 24 hours prior to the start of training to allow for registration updates and the delivery of instructions to the new trainee. Any materials shipped to the original registrant are the responsibility of the original registrant to be transferred to the new trainee. RCF will not be responsible for providing replacement materials.
Required Homework
Completion of homework is required to receive a Certificate of Completion for Structured Literacy Level 1 (45 hours) per the International Dyslexia Association requirements. Participants will receive two weeks from the final day of training to complete all homework requirements. Upon successful completion, certificates will be issued automatically. Please plan accordingly if working within contract hours.
For the live virtual or in person Structured Literacy Level 1 course the required asynchronous homework component is located as a course in RCF Online Academy. Participants will be automatically enrolled in the asynchronous homework course upon completion of the live instruction. Access to this asynchronous course will be open for 2 weeks from the last day of the live training.
Materials
Materials will be shipped to the address used to register for an account. Replacement materials will not be sent if RCF is not notified of a shipping address. Registrants will need to try to retrieve the materials from the previous address and/or receive digital materials from RCF as a replacement.
